About

Murray Meadows Farm was started on paper way over in Victoria, British Columbia. In 2012, Evan Murray decided to move back to Newfoundland, to his family home & business, Murray’s Garden Centre in Portugal Cove. Brian Kowalski, who started a small scale commercial farm in 2011, quit his job as a political hack and moved with him. The two of them started plowing and building in 2012, and now in 2018, we are going into our sixth year of production.

Brian has been growing vegetables commercially for 8 years, 6 of them as owner operator of Murray Meadows Farm. Evan completed his degrees in Chemistry and his MSc. in Environment and Management from Royal Roads University. We have been selling to our wonderful customers at the St. John’s Farmer’s Market since we started harvesting in 2013. As well, we sell to a number of excellent restaurants including Rocket, Fixed, Raymond’s, The Merchant Tavern, Mallard Cottage, Adelaide, Celtic Hearth, Chinched, The Fifth ticket and more. We also have a Community Supported Agriculture program whereby customers pay us in advance for weekly vegetable deliveries through the season.

Although not certified organic, we strive to use organic and biological interventions when needed and only use inputs and methods that are approved for use on certified organic farms.

Anyone is more than welcome to come visit the farm, please just contact us to arrange a date and time.
